Stop chasing deals. Start executing them.
Protein Link is private trading infrastructure for Australian wholesale protein. We proved the model by trading by hand, then built the platform to do it at scale.
The problem
Wholesale protein still trades on phones and spreadsheets
The result is slow, fragmented and very hard to scale.
Opaque pricing
Freight, levies and handling stay hidden until the invoice lands.
Unverified counterparties
New buyers and sellers trade on reputation and hope.
Payment risk
Credit risk sits with whoever ships first.
Separate freight
Cold chain transport is arranged again on every order.
The market
A large trade, sized from the top and the bottom
$77B
Australian red meat and livestock turnover (MLA, 2023–24)
$3.7B
Australian pet food manufacturing, buying the same trim and secondary product (IBISWorld, 2026)
$132M
Bottom-up: about 1,100 buyer contacts at an assumed $120,000 annual spend each, before about 6,000 phone contacts
Sources: MLA State of the Industry Report 2025; IBISWorld 2026. Buyer spend of $120,000 a year is an estimate.
What we've built
Not a directory. Infrastructure that runs the whole transaction.
Find and order
Structured listings with one comparable price, and order requests suppliers accept or decline.
Held payments
Stripe Connect takes the buyer's payment before anything ships, then settles each supplier.
Cold chain freight
Refrigerated freight quoted before payment and booked in the same transaction, on 51 rated lanes.
Compliance checks
Every buyer and supplier verified before they trade, with an audit trail on every order.
Counterparty privacy
Identities released only after payment, so the trade stays on the platform.
Competition
Everyone solves one piece. We run the trade.
| Alternative | How it works | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Phone brokers | Relationships, calls and texts | No price transparency, no audit trail, no protected payment |
| Distributors | Buy, hold and resell stock | Carry inventory risk and take a larger share of every sale |
| Livestock platforms | Online sale of live animals | Stop at the farm gate: no boxed product, no cold chain freight |
| Protein Link | Private trade of boxed protein | Freight, compliance, held payments and privacy in one transaction |
